1 Edging
A narrow lace or embroidery especially made for trimmings on dresses, etc. Usually it has one straight edge and one scalloped. -
2 Armenian Lace
A coarse and narrow crochet lace edging, and largely used as an ornament on the dresses of Turkish women. -

4 Arabian Lace
A narrow curtain lace for edging, etc. The ground work is usually of ecru colour with cords of darker shade. Owing to cheap imitations the real variety is not being made in quantity. -
5 Macrame Lace
Knotted point lace in geometrical designs of Spanish origin. It is made of macrame cord made specially. The threads often hang loose to form a fringe. The silk variety is used for shawl ends and the heavy coarse thread sorts for edging bedspreads, etc. It is now machine made. -
6 Moorish Lace
A very ancient lace of drawn thread work. It is still made in Morocco and used as an edging for dresses and fine towels. Also called Dentelle de Moresse. -
7 Bed Lace
A kind of narrow edging of white cotton, either in twill weave or figured; used for binding. It is also made in chintz colours for furniture prints, and in blue stripes for bed ticks, etc. -
8 Medici Lace
A kind of torchon edging, with one edge scalloped, resembling Cluny, but of finer thread. The designs are closely made and have an equal amount of open work. -
